| Seventy students from Our Lady of Lourdes Academy, both current and graduates from the class of 2009, earned AP Scholar Awards from the College Board, in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the Advanced Placement Exams, which were taken in May 2009. The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement, based on students' performance on multiple AP Exams. READ MORE |

| SCHOOL UNIFORMS |
| Please do a school uniform check at home. Uniforms should fit properly and be in good condition. Pay close attention to the pants. If the pants are too long, they drag and fray at the bottom. If you observe this happening, please have the pants cut and hemmed. |

| CHRISTMAS FORMAL ATTIRE |
| If your daughter purchased a ticket for Christmas Formal, please note the following regarding attire: (1) When purchasing a dress, be sure it is modest. Low cut dresses, dresses with plunging necklines, cut out midriffs, and extremely short dresses are unacceptable.
(2) If your daughter’s dress is not modest, you will receive a phone call to come pick her up. Shawls for coverage are not acceptable because the girls remove them during the evening.

| ATTENDANCE |
| Please note the following regarding attendance: (1) If a student is absent in excess of 10 AB5 classes/or 5 blocks in any one course per semester, she may not receive credit for that course. Late arrivals and early dismissals contribute to attendance problems.
(2) If a student is absent from school, she may not participate in any extracurricular activity that day (i.e., sports, dances, club activities).
(3) If a student is absent from school on the day prior to an all-day field trip or retreat, she may not participate in that event.
(4) Please pay close attention to the school’s policy of TRIPS as stated in the handbook on page 64.
(5) If a student must leave school before the end of the school day, a letter from a parent must be submitted to the nurse or the Dean of Students before homeroom in the morning. Seniors who drive to school and request an early dismissal must have a parent come to sign them out.

| Parents are asked to check their Edline accounts frequently for notices from teacher and grade reporting. |

| REPORT CARDS |
| Report cards were distributed to the students during the homeroom period on Monday, November 2, 2009. |
 |
| DEFICIENCIES |
| Deficiency reports for the second quarter were issued to the students on Monday and Tuesday, November 23 and 24. These reports should be signed by either parent and returned to the teacher the following day. |
| PLEDGE PAYMENTS |
| Please remember that pledges are one of the financial obligations that must be up to date in order to re-register, attend Close Up, school trips, and receive report cards and rosters. (Please see the Financial Obligation Policy, pp. 84-85, in the handbook).
Junior parents, please remember that all pledge balances have to be paid by the end of your daughter’s junior year.
For your convenience, we accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express. If you would like to charge your pledge to a credit card, please call the Institutional Advancement Office at ext. 241 or 243. If you would like to have your credit card charged automatically each month, we can do that, too.

| On Saturday, Dec. 12, Barnes & Noble will host a shopping event to benefit Our Lady of Lourdes Academy. Barnes & Noble will donate 20% of all purchases made on that day, at ANY of their stores and Web site. Please present this VOUCHER, so your purchase can count toward the school. |

| TENNIS TOURNAMENT |
| Our 18th Annual Tennis Tournament will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the Royal Palm Tennis Club. The chairpersons are Luis & Marisa de la Aguilera, Dr. Jorge & Mercy de la Pedraja, Dr. Pedro & Essie Llaneza, and Victor & Ariana Gutierrez, Please join us for a great family afternoon of tennis, raffles and lunch!

| NIGHT OF DOMINOES, CARDS, MENTIROSA AND FRIENDS |
| Our 12th Annual Night of Dominoes, Cards, Mentirosa and Friends was held on November 6 in the school auditorium. Over $9,000 was raised for the benefit of our school.
On behalf of S. M. Sheila Foy and the entire Our Lady of Lourdes Academy family, we thank Chairpersons Angie Guzman, Inita Martin, Vivian Perez-Siam, and Albert Maury, as well as the entire committee of the Domino & Cards Night for their tremendous work and dedication to our school. | We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the inaugural Bobcat Holiday Bazaar, Dec. 7 -- vendors, staff members and attendees, alike. SACS/CASI ACCREDITATION UPDATE |
| The Internal Review for Accreditation continues in preparation for the Internal Review to take place next school year, 2010-2011.
A general meeting to launch the Review is scheduled for December 2, 2009, and team meetings will continue through the second semester of this school year.
